Review: LEGO BRICKS rings and pendants

In the previous post we told you about the vintage gaming inspired jewelry we sell in our ART LAB store. Now's the time to show you some more new stuff: the Lego bricks rings and pendants. Of course, these aren't actual Lego bricks but only original jewelry inspired in Lego pieces. The procedure we used to make them is the same as for the aforementioned pixelated jewels

Review: 8 bit JEWELRY

This is our new product, available at our ART LAB store.

They are handcrafted, vintage gaming inspired resin pieces. Over the originals we carefully made in epoxy putty, we apply a method to replicate them in coloured resin. Each new born piece is hand-picked, edge-trimmed, sanded and then polished. A metal ring and a ball chain are added at the end.

This is the result. Shiny little jewelry pieces with a manual touch that evoke old classic games like Super Mario, Pac-Man and Space Invaders.

No copyrights infringed. All pieces are slightly reshaped and differ from the original games' sprites ;)

Review: PIXEL ART

Do you remember those pixel masses that came out from those rude silicon chips that made us happy in a past that now seems so far away? If you belong to that generation, you sure know what we mean and you keep good memories of it. This nostalgic style has become an artistic way of expression nowadays.

The used technique for it is strictly digital. We can portrait you, your friends or even your enemies, in hi-res as well as in low-res, each resolution with its own charm.

Review: CARICATURES

(Go-Go Yubari, a character from KILL BILL)

These are the caricatures we paint by using a graphic tablet and software and using the reference photos you can send us. The aim is to slightly exagerate the facial features of the person we caricature and make it look really funny.

Review: CUSTOM FIGURES

ART LAB is an illustration and design studio but, as you saw on the post below, we do also sculpt our well acclaimed custom figures.

The great success we achieved with these figures, in a so short time period, lead us to exhibit them proudly.

How are they done? The ART LAB sculptor Dani Calero works with epoxy putty of great resistance and detail level using some photos as a reference. After the sculpture is done and set, he paints it with high quality acrylics and then seals it with matt laquer (or shinny laquer where needed).

It's a present that never fails, always causing remarkable impact in the middle of the celebration. The only things we need are a bunch of photos and some instructions about clothing, pose, associated objects, etc.

They are made in two sizes: big and small.

¿What do we need?

·Some photos, the more the better, in order to know the facial and corporal expressions as well as the clothing to be featured.

·A delivery date. The time it takes to produce a figure ranges from one week to one month, depending on the queued work elements we have and the complexity of the piece. That's something to keep in mind!!
